The short version

Before the agency, I ran lead generation as an employee at DRC Restoration, a San Diego water and mold restoration company: $360K in Google Ads became $2.6M in revenue in year one and $2.2M in year two.[1] Working inside a trades business is where I learned what a lead is actually worth: not the click, not the form fill, but the job that gets booked and paid. It also taught me how much of a contractor's marketing budget disappears into agencies and lead brokers who never have to answer for that number.

So I started Digital Dynamics in San Diego, a lead-generation and SEO agency for the trades: plumbing, restoration, roofing, electrical and remodeling. The work is local SEO, Google Business Profiles, and paid ads, measured in booked jobs. I am also building Checkin Signals so contractors own their SEO, instead of renting it from whoever holds their rankings this year.

Now the search box is changing. Homeowners ask ChatGPT, Google AI Mode and Perplexity "who is the best plumber near me," and those engines recommend a handful of names. I want to know, with data, how a plumbing or restoration contractor in San Diego gets to be one of those names. I am running that experiment on myself first, in public, before I sell it to anyone: see the study.
